Default Buying New Accs for Money Viable? (Plus general HoM Questions)

I'm not in any sense condoning buying gold, this is giving the money legitimately to ANet and costs 5x the amount in real terms.

I sat down with argos, a calculator, and the HoM calc and tried to work out the best way to get 30 points without having to grind out any money. Normally I would just grind it, but with GW2 just around the corner and the fact that all of the decent money/hr methods are incredibly tedious, I thought I'd work it out.

Now, I can get a new GW Acc for ??6.75. This gives me 10 Zkeys, and if I sell them at 6kea, That's 60k/??6.75. This is about 10k/??1.12.

Now, I worked this out:
60k Nightfall + 30k EotN for 7/8 Fellowship 90k
90k for Unique OR farm Moa (7k + 500g + 5k) + 50/100k for 18 white 113k
250-350k for Kurzick + Ancient, Asura, Monument, Canthan 300k
35kx3 destroyer + 80k oppressor + 162k Tormented 350k

This should give me 30/50 HoM - This is the 30 points.
This will cost me roughly 850k, which is ??100.

If I'm not mistaken, this requires me completing all 3 camps + EotN and War in Kryta, with two protector titles. It also requires me to get rank 5 in the 3 EotN reps for the Armour.
I'm one mission off factions protector currently, so effectively it's only 1 more, and I have also done the asura line of EotN.

This brings me to my questions

1. How long would it take me to do the other two lines in EotN, Prophecies/Nightfall with Protector in one of them, War in Kryta and the EotN rep for the armours?
2. How long would it take me to earn the 850k gold if I wasn't to buy new accs?
3. Are there any cheaper alternatives to what I've chosen that don't require any more work? (I was thinking an extra 10 minis + another destroyer might be cheaper than the Tormented, but I can't find any prices)
3. Is there a faster way for 30 that I could use that would require spending more money? (i.e. Armours that are faster to get than the EotN ones, not necessarily cheaper) (Not including rank 3 Zaishen, that's like ??135 accounts wise)
4. If I wasn't to spend any real money, considering I have spent about 35 hours so far in the game and have 10 points, How much longer time wise would it take to get 30?

And 5, Is there any chance at all that I would be able to do the required playing in the 50 hours I have left before GW2?

The reason I'm considering this is because I'm not that fond of GW1. It's a good game and has its merits, but I get bored with it very easily. However, I am a massive collector, and really want to try and get 30 HoM points.

Thanks =]

The rules are very clear. it is not allowed to sell accounts. Doing so would mean they are going to block your main account and you loose your HoM.

You've misread - I'm planning on buying new retail accounts. As in boxes. New account names, everything. New copies of the retail Prophecies game. Unredeemed Brand new Serials. These all come with the 10 zkeys, which I can trade back to my main account. (It's also got the added benefit of having a load of farm characters for Minis)

Kurzick armor will be 200k for you, so your calculation is wrong
and 30/50 accounts are really cheap

I don't want to buy a 30/50 acc, since that IS against the ToS. And thanks for the corrections =]

So, you can complete all compaigns in couple of days or one week, then easy farm soo and fow with partys, will take month.
Also u can make moa urself, and 1-3 opressors easy.
Farm materials for destroyers.
And you have 10 days to make quest for free torment weapon

It seems like a lot of time and money for a bunch of useless gewgaws in GW2.

And thats exactly why I want them! =p

I'm all about collecting silly little things that have no purpose what-so-ever. In wow, It was hunter pets and Minipets.

And guess what the HoM rewards are =p

And I feel fine spending the money, because heck, I like little collectibles and I know for a fact that I'll be playing GW2 pretty much forever. Compared to the price of some things, *cough* Spectral Tiger *cough* It's not that big of an ask for the amount of things you get

Hmmm, the HoM is ment for people as a reward for their dedication in gw1. gw2 will have it's own dedication rewards. Like you said, you don't have the right "love" for the game. Then why would you want to show your love of it in GW2 with having these gewgaws.

It's a bit the same as the AION-emote. A lot of people who wanted it. I've never felt any love for AION. So I also never felt the urge of spamming the /aion emote in gw1.

That's fair enough, but for me its more for the sake of completion. Especially with minis etc, I like to try and get all that are available to me, same with Ranger pets.
It's not so much showing love to GW1, its more about showing love to GW2 by getting every pet for my ranger, and getting all of the minis that I can.

(On another note, you've got me gutted because I got the CE of Aion on steam and it doesn't look like I can get the emote any more :|)

If you can get hold of a brand new copy of the Factions Collector's Edition, the undedicated Kunnavang mini sells for alot in game. Its hard to get now of course, but there is some brand new copies still availiable on the internet if you look hard enough.

My girlfriend bought two copies of it, claimed the minis and Z-Keys, and sold them to others players. It earned her enough platinum and ectos to go from 6/50 to 30/50 on her main account in under two weeks...and have enough left over to grab a pair of Chaos Gloves too just for fun (she probably could have got Obsidian Armour instead if she had been that way inclined too, which would have been an extra point, but would have taken a little longer seems she'd have to farm a bit of that herself).

That's a pretty good idea actually, it looks like one of those is cheaper than getting the singular accs. (Around about ??25 for the lowest, whereas my method would get the same for about ??80)

Out of curiosity, what points did she go for, and how much did she roughly sell the minis for?

She got about 50 ectos for each of them, which is 300-350k. Add the Z-keys you'd also get from the account, which is 50-60k, you are looking at an easy 350 - 410k for (in her case) ??20 per Factions CE. As she bought two copies of it, the 800k or so she got from them was of course more than enough to fund her Hall of Monuments.

Most of her HoM points came from mostly filling up Devotion as miniatures are cheap as chips if you go for ones from years 1 to 3, and Fellowship, as hero armour is also cheap/very easy to farm.

She completed the each campaigns storyline, and then with my help did a few elite areas to get the rest of the points (5 statues & Accounts linked = 3 + 2 + 3) in Honor, got a handful of elite armours for Resilience (2 points for 5 statues again, one being Kurzick/Luxon, which is 1 + 1 + 2 + 1), and then a Destroyer + Oppressor Weapon in Valor (for 1 + 1 + 1).

Of course, this week due to the in-game event you could easily pick-up a Tormented Weapon too for another point, which would mean you could cut down on the amount of miniatures you'd have to buy, hero armours you'd have to farm/buy or skip on the Luxon/Kurzick Armours and just get another cheap armour (like EotN armours or Ancient Armour) instead.

Bear in mind the amount of money you'll have availiable to you will be more than what you get just from the selling the Minis/Z-Keys too, seems you'll earn a bit of money while doing a few of the other activities like the Elite Areas and the Mission/Quest rewards while paying through the campaigns.

So I started to work this out - How much would it cost me if I just went and flat out bought 30/50?

Obviously, I would first have to complete EotN, for the tapestries and the wep/hero armor vendors.

I estimated that I could sell the Mini for around about 100e (According to the price guide thread,) give or take a high or a low sell. I would also get 60k more from the zkeys, depending on how many CEs I would need to finish.

Amazingly, it turned out to be pretty much what I originally said, ??100.

Code:
Complete EotN

28 minis 200k 3
1 green mini 90k 1
EotN Hero Armor 20-35k 3
3 Dungeon runs 300k
Elite Kurzic + Canthan 300k 2
1 Destroyer 120k 2

Complete The War in Kryta
Complete Nightfall up to Tihark Orchard

9 Destroyer + 1 Oppressor	1180k 4
1 more Dungeon Run 80k 3
Vabbian 200k 2

Total 2505k/357e/??100

or

Grind Asuran/Norn/Thingy Rep

Asuran + Norn + Monument Armor	150k 3
200 Zkeys 1200k 6

Total 2395k/342e/??100

or

Grind Asuran/Norn/Thingy Rep
Complete The War in Kryta

Asuran + Norn + Monument Armor	150k 3
1 more Dungeon Run 80k 3
10 more Minis 300k 1
4 Oppressor Weps 300k(?) 2

Total 1875k/267e/??100

or

Complete all 4 Campaigns w/Canthan Protector + War in Kryta

28 minis 200k 3
1 Green Mini 90k 1
Hero Armor 250k 5
1 Dungeon Run 80k 3
Elite Kurzic + Canthan + Asuran + Norn + Monument	450k 5
1 Destroyer + 1 Oppressor 120k 3

Total 1190k/170e/??50 (But another 150hrs of play)

The last option intrigued me - since I know it would take me about 150 hours to finish everything required. If I was to work for those 150 hours, on minimum wage, I would earn ??750. SO there isn't really much justifying that needs to be done for the seemingly large amount of money.
And I dropped ??150 on GW2 anyway lol.

On another note, how long does it take to complete War in Kryta?
